BUILD AND DESIGN
The HP Officejet 6500A series is building upon the Officejet 6500 series released in March of 2009. Like the Officejet 6500 series before it, the Officejet 6500A series consists of two models: the Officejet 6500A e-All-in-One and the Officejet 6500A Plus e-All-in-One. The difference between the two models is added wireless connectivity and automatic duplexing on the Officejet 6500A Plus for $50 more. The Officejet 6500A series is done in solid black with silver accents and some small HP branding. I think it has a more professional appeal than previous models. The overall dimensions are nearly identical for the two models; the Officejet 6500A Plus is slightly bigger at 19 x 18 x 10 inches and weighing in just over 18 lbs with no consumables.

Working down the printer, the 35-sheet automatic document feeder is the first device you'll notice since it's located on top of the scanner lid. The 35-sheet ADF will allow customers to copy, scan or fax large documents up to 8.5 x 14 inches hands-free. The Officejet 6500A Plus has a 48-bit flatbed scanner with an optical and enhanced maximum resolution up to 4800 dpi. Users can scan and copy documents and images up to 8.5 x 11.7 inches with the flatbed. The backlit control panel on the Officejet 6500A series is much more compact than previous generations with a 2.36-inch LCD centered. The only actual key is the power key.

Lift the HP Officejet 6500A Plus at the middle to access the four ink cartridges. HP includes four standard capacity HP 920 cartridges (CMYK), but users have the option to purchase high capacity HP 920XL cartridges (CMYK). The Officejet 6500A Plus offers a 250-sheet paper tray that is compatible with a variety of media ranging from 3 x 5 inch photos to legal sized documents. The Officejet 6500A series features a maximum monthly duty cycle up to 7000 pages. The built-in card reader is located to the left of the paper tray and output bin. The Officejet 6500A Plus is compatible with the following media: SD, SDHC, MultimediaCard, Secure MultimediaCard, xD Picture Card, Memory Stick, Memory Stick Duo, Memory Stick PRO and Memory Stick PRO Duo.
All the connections are found on the back of the HP Officejet 6500A Plus. The Officejet 6500A Plus offers USB 2.0 and Ethernet connectivity like the base model, but it also offers wireless connectivity. (Source by http://www.printercomparison.com/default.asp?newsID=895).
